Basic Coaching Exercise

If you are in a difficult situation or facing a dilemma then you may find it helpful to do the following basic life coaching exercise:

1. Write down a list of what your options are in the situation.
2. For each option write down the pros (advantages) and cons (disadvantages) of that option.
3. Reflect on the pros and cons of the different options and decide which one is the one that you are going to pursue in the light of your analysis.

If you are unsure about what your options are or about their respective merits or you find it difficult to act on the option that you believe is best then it may be worth seeking views from others who have been in similar situations and worked through them successfully.
