The Cost of Obesity

According to the recent McKinsey report, obesity costs the world £1.3 trillion, about the same as smoking or armed conflict and greater than both alcoholism and climate change.

The costs arise from health care required to treat people due to increases in heart and lung disease, diabetes and lifestyle-related cancers and from work days and output lost as a result of obesity-related conditions. For more information about the report go to: Obesity 'Costing Same as Smoking'.
