There is plenty of research indicating the benefits of meditation or mindfulness practice for helping to relieve some of the symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression and related conditions. Recent research suggests that yoga may also be helpful for people suffering from bipoloar disorder, the condition where you experience depressive periods and manic periods which was formerly known as manic depression (for a general introduction to bipolar disorder see: Bipolar Disorder). The suggestion is that the reason why yoga may be helpful is because it teaches mindfulness and an ability to accept different emotions. Click below to read an article about the research:
