The good news for those men who followed the plan was that follow up results suggest that they dramatically reduced their risk of cancer, diabetes, heart attack, stroke and dementia.
The bad news - only 25 of the men (1%) managed to stick to all the rules (perhaps women would have done better?).
What were the rules? It seems, they were:
- Eat a high fruit and vegetable intake
- Engage in regular physical activity
- Keep your weight down
- Don't drink too much alcohol
- Never smoke.
