I recently came across an article on the NHS website entitled 'Does having a hobby help you live longer'. The article highlights a research study by English and American Universities published in the medical journal The Lancet. The research shows some correlation between having a hobby or other purpose in life and living longer (athough the links do not amount to conclusive proof). The research it seems is primarily about the links between physical health and subjective wellbeing (satisfaction with life, feelings of happiness, sense of purpose or meaning).
