Noticing Good Things

I don't know if most of us are hard-wired to notice mainly things that go wrong or could go wrong or badly, but if you're like me then you probably find yourself on a daily basis having anxious thoughts about what you need to do or about whether something will happen which you are a bit apprehensive about. You may also find that you tend to remember more those things that don't go well or that were a bit unpleasant or hard work than those things that were enjoyable or good.

So try this:

Each day for a week at the end of the day write down 3 good things that happened to you or that you are proud of in that day - large or small. Keep the list in a little notebook and read the whole week's list at the end of the week - that will be 21 good things if my arithmetic is in tune!

Noticing the actual positives that happen in your life is a good step to improving your wellbeing.
